Remembering Bob Becker of Four Seasons Produce
Robert “Bob” Becker Sr., 67, of Denver, PA passed away on June 1, 2019 following a battle with cancer. Bob worked at Four Seasons Produce, Inc. in Lancaster County, PA for 41 years, much of the time as a Produce Buyer.
As one of the longest tenured employees of company founder and chairman, David Hollinger, and someone who did just about every job over the years involved in running a produce wholesale distribution business, Bob became known as the company historian. He helped share and document the organization’s story, and collected business artifacts over the years. Recently at a company event, to the delight of all in attendance, he even read an old poem-song he had originally written to roast Mr. Hollinger on his birthday decades earlier.
Bob was dedicated to his family and involved at church. On weekends he volunteered as a driving instructor to teach Burmese Karen refugees how to drive cars so they could pursue getting a license. He was a member of Gideons International and a devoted sponsor of over 20 children through Compassion International. He enjoyed history and amassed an impressive library of historical books.
Admired for his faithful service, loyalty, willingness to help in any way needed, along with his enthusiasm for people, dry humor and unexpected wit, Bob Becker will be greatly missed and remembered fondly.
