$52,000 Cash for Local Food Banks
Four Seasons Family of Companies is donating $52,000 this July to local food banks. During one of the busiest weeks of the year in the food business, the week leading up to Independence Day 2015; Four Seasons Produce, Earth Source Trading and Sunrise Logistics donated a portion of their profits from each case toward local food banks. Thanks to the strong case movement support from customers the event was a success. Children and families in need will be helped.
The $52,000 will be split among:
– Philabundance: greater Philadelphia metro area, including 9 Delaware Valley counties
– Capital Area Food Bank: Washington DC, northern Virginia, parts of Maryland
– Central Pennsylvania Food Bank: Harrisburg, Lancaster, York – 27 mid-state PA counties in all
– Greater Berks Food Bank: Reading, PA and 3 eastern PA counties
Did you know that 1 in 6 people in the United States struggles to get enough to eat?
According to FeedingAmerica.org the rate is even higher for kids – with 1 in 5 children in a food insecure situation.
Summer is when school breakfast and lunch programs end and children who are in need no longer have access to them. Donations to food banks decrease during the summer, while the demand increases, making the need for children most acute. Cash donations to food banks help kids from food insecure homes worry about having a good summer, instead of worrying about if they’ll get enough to eat.
Please consider how you can support the food banks that serve your community’s most vulnerable.
